About

A gift from years of research.

Himavanta.org gathers a far-reaching sacred world into stories that are clear, beautiful, useful, and enjoyable to explore.

Why Himavanta?

Himavanta is at once a mountain forest, a water world, a setting for Buddhist stories, a home of extraordinary creatures, and a visual language that traveled across Asia. No single book or picture contains it all.

This project brings together Pāli, Indic, Chinese, Khmer, Thai, Tibetan, Burmese, Sri Lankan, and Japanese histories so a visitor can finally see the connections—and the transformations—without needing to begin as a specialist.

Who makes the guide

Himavanta.org is an independent research and public-history project. The Himavanta.org Research Project is responsible for collecting and comparing texts, writing, data, image selection, corrections, and publication. It is not presented as a university, museum, monastic institution, or substitute for language-specialist editions.

The project founder has not published a personal byline. For that reason articles are attributed to the project organization rather than to an invented individual author. Editorial responsibility, revision dates, source locations, and known limitations are stated on the site.

How review works

Every public guide passes automated checks for references, missing fields, unsupported images, duplicate metadata, broken links, and rendered output. Historical families remain separately identified so a later account cannot silently supply an earlier text with details it never states.

Internal editorial review is complete for published pages. External specialist review remains pending for several Pāli, Sanskrit, Chinese, Khmer, Thai, Tibetan, Burmese, Japanese, and Sri Lankan readings. Those limits are preserved in the notes rather than hidden behind a general statement of expert certification.

Who it is for

Come here to identify a temple creature, follow the rivers from Anavatapta, understand a manuscript, explore the meaning of Neak Pean, find inspiration for art or teaching, or simply wander through an extraordinary imagined world.

How to use it

Begin with whatever catches your eye. The main story is written for reading; notes and references are available at the end of every guide when you want to go deeper.

Privacy and measurement

The site measures page views, return visits, 50% and 90% reading depth, contents use, next-story clicks, saves, and on-site search interactions through a first-party endpoint. It uses random browser identifiers, stores no names, email addresses, IP addresses, or user-agent strings, and does not use advertising cookies.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable this measurement. Saved and recently read guides remain in the visitor’s own browser. Search impressions and search-result positions are obtained separately from webmaster tools after domain-owner verification.
